Warminster duo clock up 45 years between them at Wren House

TWO Warminster carers with 45 years between them are as keen as ever to help those in need at Wren House.

Ellie Simmonds and Donna Van Tromp started off as care workers at the home on Vicarage Street before being promoted to managerial positions.

Ms Van Tromp was appointed as deputy manager at the home last month while Ms Simmonds was appointed as manager in 2012.

Ms Simmonds said: "There is something special about Wren House, it's a lovely building, and is beautifully appointed, which gives it a particular atmosphere.

"You should expect high standards of care wherever you go, but there is an individual ethos at Wren House that makes it so different.

"We concentrate on the little details and small touches, I suppose, like the fact that we use silver teapots and always get out our best china to serve the tea."

Both women live locally and believe the 18th century Georgian building offers a unique environment.

Ms Van Tromp, who began working at Wren House part-time, said: "I love my work, no two days are the same and we have so many different people to interact with - not just the residents, but the staff and residents, as well as other visitors such as doctors.

"Ellie and I work really well together and we seem to know instinctively what the other is thinking, partly I suppose because we have spent so long working together.

"We really complement each other."

Ami Collman, operations manager at Montreux Living who run the home said: "It's really important to have good leadership, and Ellie and Donna have shown over a number of years how dedicated they are and how they understand the needs of the residents and the special character of Wren House."
